At Lamaro, transparency is a cornerstone of our philosophy. It is embodied in our commitment to offer you ethical and responsible creations, both socially and environmentally. That's why we attach the utmost importance to disclosing the precise origin of the materials we select with the utmost rigor.

Each of our bags and small leather goods is handcrafted, using the goldsmith's techniques of art leatherwork, in our French workshop located in the heart of Marseille. Our quest for excellence leads us to favor local sourcing, in France and in our neighboring countries.

Full-grain leathers from the finest French and European tanneries

Every leather used in the manufacture of our bags and other small leather goods accessories comes from the recycling of existing materials. We draw from the dormant reserves of the most prestigious French and European tanneries, as well as from leading leather goods manufacturers. The precise origin of the leather(s) used for each of our fine leather goods creations is revealed on the product sheet, a guarantee of our absolute transparency.

The vast majority of our choices are made from skins sourced from the agri-food industry, notably from calves, goats and salmon. These leathers undergo a meticulous selection process, and only the "full grain" ones are retained, thus preserving the most resistant outer part of the hide, as opposed to the leather crust.

Each bag is cut from the noblest parts of the hide, but we also use the offcuts for smaller pieces, reflecting our commitment to eliminating waste and demonstrating our attention to detail and respect for the environment.

Linen thread, excellence for our saddle stitching

To produce our saddlery stitching, which is done by hand in the purest tradition of saddlery and leatherwork, we use a legendary wired linen thread, the famous Fil au Chinois. This exceptional thread is designed by an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company), which has been perpetuating its know-how for almost 120 years, near the city of Lille. Flax, an emblematic raw material of which France is the world's leading producer, is favored for its remarkable strength, as well as being a totally natural fiber.

This linen thread is then delicately "poissé" by hand, i.e. waxed with beeswax, in our workshop, for optimum protection against wear. This technique, combined with saddle-stitching, ensures a seam that will stand the test of time and, if necessary, be easily repaired, expressing our commitment to durability.

Linen for bag handles and straps

The heart of our shoulder straps is a linen rope, grown and woven on French soil. As France is the world's leading producer of linen, it's a natural material that we're keen to promote. It gives strength and flexibility to the straps and handles of our leather bags, symbolizing our commitment to excellence.

Edge dyeing, a symbol of excellence in fine leather goods

Slice finishing is a crucial step in our quest for the highest quality in all our leather goods. Dyeing, a key element in this process, gives the slice a waterproof finish that prolongs its durability. Our premium-quality dyes are sourced from a French manufacturer with 50 years of expertise in luxury leather goods, adding a note of excellence to our creations.

Accessories, luxurious jewels for our leather bags

Today, we source essential accessories such as clasps and snap hooks from a wholesaler based in France, itself sourced from renowned Italian manufacturers. These accessories embody elegance through materials such as brass, iron or zamac, depending on the references and specifics of each creation. Our long-term vision is to personalize these accessories, made-to-measure by renowned French craftsmen, for ever more unique and precious luxury bags.
